Anthology Update #3

Afaa and Tara have sent out the acceptance letters for BOP, STRUT, & DANCE. It was difficult to eliminate some poems, but the editors appreciated the diverse range within the hundreds of submissions received.

In the meantime,  the foreword, editors' notes, and gathering final details from some of the contributors is underway.  The editors are still seeking a publisher, and we have some promising possibilities.

In other good news, Afaa Weaver has published an essay on how to write the Bop poem in Wingbeats: Exercises and Practice in Poetry (Dos Gatos Press, 2011).

Anthology Update #2

Afaa and Tara are finishing up their semesters at Simmons College and Rutgers University respectively. They have both been doing readings, appearing at conferences, and doing new work of their own, so reading the submissions has taken a bit longer than they expected. The good news is that they expect to send out acceptance letters soon!

In the meantime, feel free to check out Demetrice Worley's "An African American Woman's Offering: A Bop" in her new book Tongues In My Mouth (Main Street Rag, 2011).
